Museum Volunteers had an extra special Christmas buffet - with two reasons to celebrate!
Not only were they enjoying the festive season, but they were also celebrating the museum receiving the Kings Award for Voluntary Service (KAVS).
There was plenty of chatter about plans for Christmas as volunteers tucked into a delicious buffet.
Then it was time to celebrate the prestigious award which is equivalent to the MBE for voluntary organisations. There were only 231 awarded to voluntary organisations throughout the country this year.
Each of the volunteers were presented with a commemorative badge from KAVS, and there will be further celebrations next year.
A special cake was produced bearing the Museum of Policing logo, together with the KAVS logo - which the museum can now proudly display.
Museum manager Peter Hampson carefully cut the cake with a ceremonial sword. He thanked volunteers for their hours and standards of work and said he was “extremely proud” that the team had received the award.
