A TEAM of work colleagues were “buzzing with excitement” after a visit to the Warrington-based Museum of Policing in Cheshire.
After 30 years-service with Cheshire Constabulary, Kersten Southcott retired in December as Detective Chief Inspector (Protecting Vulnerable People) North. She started a new role as team manager with Warrington Safeguarding Partnerships and wanted her new colleagues to learn more about police work and history.
They visited the Arpley Street venue and were welcomed by Superintendent Adam Ross (Northern Area Commander) and museum manager Peter Hampson.
Kersten said the tour brought policing to life for her team, who work with partners across organisations to quality assure safeguarding arrangements.
“It was of great benefit to them to gain an insight into policing past and present.
“Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the visit, the whole team was buzzing with enthusiasm after we left and asking how they can bring friends, families, and other groups they are involved with.”
Partnership Project Support Officer Leonie McLaughlin said: “It was a fantastic and informative visit to aid our understanding of policing in Warrington.
“One could easily immerse themselves into the history of policing with a series of amazing exhibits that have been carefully and thoughtfully preserved to continue to share today. In amongst the fascinating history were present day resources which offered so much insight and perspective into the day to day lives of serving police officers.”
